BE Agency was established in Pretoria on 3 January 1991 by its current managing director, Bryn Evans. A former journalist who graduated from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, in 1983, Bryn Evans moved into the PR industry in late 1987 shortly after leaving local weekly IT publication Computer Week, where he worked as a news journalist.

BE Agency was formed to focus on the IT market and has, since its inception, built up a reputation as one of the leading IT PR companies in SA.

Main Focus

The company's main focus is to generate press coverage for its clients in the relevant press, including print, on-line and, where relevant and possible, radio and television. In all our press endeavours we strive to tell the corporate story, including our client's  successes, strategies, new products, new installations, hot-button ideas, industry issues and trends and staff appointments.

At BE Agency we see our role as "packagers of information" and "press lobbyers" as opposed to being described as a PR company.
The information we continually identify, write, package and disseminate, is designed to continually tell a story about our clients - a story that will both inform and tantalise their clients and potential clients to ultimately assist in the growth of their business through "making them famous".

News is sourced by talking to the relevant stakeholders in the company, meaning that news is generated both pro-actively and reactively by BE Agency. We do not sit back and wait for our clients to tell us what they want published, or simply sub-edit articles produced by staff members.

We subscribe to a simple philosophy: If you have a cure for cancer, but you are sitting somewhere in the middle of the Amazon - and no-one knows about you, or the fact that you have a cure for cancer, your cure for cancer is useless. People, quite simply, need to know where you are, and what you can offer them. And this "story" has to be told over and over again, in different guises, to attract more business. While there may, at times, be an element of wizardry, it is this continual, unerring and disciplined approach to publicity that ultimately creates results for the client.
